Ruchi Gupta Singhal
With her Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech and her Masters in Chemical Engineering from NC State University, Ruchi Singhal entered the environmental arena with her first job as an enforcement officer at the North Carolina Division of Air Quality. Her passion for renewable energy technologies led her to a position in the North Carolina Solar Center as a Transportation Program Coordinator where she was involved in evaluating emission benefits from alternative transportation projects as well as administering grants for those projects.
Upon moving to Huntsville, Alabama she created the Nexus Energy Center organization at the successful incubator BizTech. Nexus Energy Center is a consortium of talented partners dedicated to bringing energy solutions to the local region and United States. The guiding principal of Nexus is to foster networking for businesses, organizations, and researchers in our community that are striving for new energy strategies for America. The Center promotes a balance of analysis and creativity toward the conservation, generation, storage, and transmission of energy.
Nexus has over 200 supporters in the Tennessee Valley community and frequently conducts outreach activities bringing these members together to network. Ruchi and Nexus has been featured in the Huntsville Times, The R&D report, The 42 as well as WAFF and WHNT local television. Ruchi served on the Huntsville Mayor’s Sustainability Taskforce, also named “Green 13” as the Energy Team lead. Ruchi is Community Energy Management lead for a new Energy Huntsville Initiative. Recently, she has secured a DOE grant through the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) to administer a Better Buildings Program in the community with 13 other southeast cities. Nexus has also secured additional grants from the Department of Labor and State Energy Program, totaling approximately $2million for Nexus energy programs.
